GIRLS SOCCER ⚽

Bethesda-Chevy Chase reached the 4A girls soccer title game, taking Perry Hall to overtime, but falling to the Gators 3-2. B-CC’s loss marks the first time since 2019 that a Montgomery County team did not win a girls soccer state title. Finishing at 12-3-2 wasn’t enough to give the Barons the top spot in the county standings, as the Blair Blazers’ undefeated regular season and 14-1-1 final record gives them the top spot. BOYS SOCCER ⚽

Walt Whitman’s 4A semifinals appearance marked the farthest that any MoCo team made it in the playoffs in the 2025 season. After Blair’s title in 2024 and Damascus’s title in 2023, this marks first year since 2022 that a Montgomery County team did not bring home a state title. Despite having the deepest playoff run, the Vikings finished with the second best record in the county at 14-4, finishing behind the Northwest Jaguars at 14-3. VOLLEYBALL 🏐

For the second straight season, the Churchill Bulldogs reached the state semifinals, and this season, they took the title for the farthest MoCo playoff elimination. They did not finish at the top of the end of season standings, as that title went to the Wootton Patriots who finished at 16-2. After Richard Montgomery went back-to-back, 2025 also marks the first year since 2022 that a Montgomery County team didn’t win a state championship. FIELD HOCKEY 🏑

Churchill’s appearance in the 4A state semifinals gives them the deepest postseason run of any Montgomery County team. Finishing with a 14-2 record easily put the Bulldogs atop the county standings, finishing two games ahead of second place B-CC at 11-3. This fall will mark 20 years since MoCo’s most recent field hockey state title, as no team has won since Quince Orchard’s 2006 state championship victory.
