GIRLS BASKETBALL 🏀

Last week the undefeated Walt Whitman Vikings hosted the Churchill Bulldogs in what may prove to be the game of the year, not just in Montgomery County, but throughout the state. This back-and-forth match had no shortage of lead changes, scoring runs, and more. Click the link below to read a recap from this game!

In the county standings, Whitman remains undefeated with wins over Churchill and Wootton. Richard Montgomery moved up a spot as they won a couple games this weekend, aided by the Bulldogs’ Wednesday loss. With two weeks left to play, only time will tell if anyone will be able to overtake the Vikings’ top spot! Stay tuned for playoff brackets, which release on Tuesday, February 24!

TRACK AND FIELD 🏃

Last week, the track and field regional competitions were held from Monday through Friday in Prince George’s County. Thirteen of Montgomery County’s 26 total high schools participated in the 4A West Regional Championship at the sports complex. The indoor track and field state championships are set to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 17 and 18, in Landover!

BOYS BASKETBALL🏀

Whitman, Magruder, and Poolesville remain at the top of the standings with two weeks to go, but just one game separates the three teams, with Poolesville being just half a game back. The Vikings have a high-stakes road match against 10-4 Walter Johnson this week, which is crucial to maintaining their top spot. Stay tuned for playoff brackets, which release on Tuesday, February 24!

WRESTLING 🤼

The wrestling regular season has come to a close! Congratulations to Whitman and Sherwood for finishing the season undefeated at 12-0 and 10-0, respectively! Stay tuned to CSZ Network for playoff updates in the coming weeks.
