GIRLS BASKETBALL 🏀

Last week, the Baltimore Sun published a story, highlighting rapidly dropping participation rates in high school girls’ basketball throughout the state. Our feature story this week is an investigation, with the help of multiple MCPS coaches, into why this phenomenon is taking place. Click the link below to read more about the findings!

Whitman remains undefeated going into the final week of the regular season, but Richard Montgomery and Winston Churchill are the two squads in the best position for an end of season takeover. Due to snow related closures earlier this month and late last month, the final day of the regular season has been set to next Monday, February 23. Also stay tuned for basketball playoff brackets, which are set to release on Tuesday, February 24!

BOYS BASKETBALL🏀

Whitman, Magruder, and Poolesville remain at the top of the standings with two weeks to go, but just one game separates the three teams, with Poolesville being just half a game back. TRACK AND FIELD 🏃

Next week, MPSSAA will host the Indoor Track and Field state championships at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex, with 1A and 4A teams competing Tuesday afternoon, while 2A and 3A squads will race on Wednesday. Stay tuned next week for a breakdown on all the gold medalists from the sport’s final event!
