FOOTBALL 🏈
With the first round of Regionals taking place over the past week, a number of Montgomery County programs had a chance to make their mark. To no surprise, No. 1-seed Quince Orchard advanced, gathering a dominant 56-0 win over Gaithersburg.
Churchill also impressed with a 36-6 win over Clarksburg. If it wins its following contest over Richard Montgomery, it would face Quince Orchard should the Courgars advance. That could turn out to be a must-see matchup.
Sherwood and John F. Kennedy were the two Montgomery County teams to advance to the second round in the 3A/4A Regionals — Sherwood earned a first-round bye, while John F. Kennedy routed Whitman, 50-8.

SOCCER GIRLS ⚽️
Entering this week, B-CC was the only girls’ soccer team left in Montgomery County to still be alive, either in Class 3A or 4A. It is still churning out wins in the state playoff, defeating Severn Run, 2-0, in the semifinal.
Now, B-CC is staring down a formidable opponent for the Class 4A state final: No. 6-seed Perry Hall. Despite being a lower seed, Perry Hall has already had some stellar postseason wins, including a 1-0 win over No. 2-seed Leonardtown in the semifinal.

VOLLEYBALL 🏐
Congratulations to Wootton for being the lone Montgomery County team to emerge as a Class 3A Regional Champion! Sherwood lost in the Regional final against Reservoir, 3-2. In the first round of the Class 3A state tournament, however, Wootton was downed by Arundel, 3-1.
In Class 4A, congratulations to Churchill, Richard Montgomery and Blair for capturing Regional titles. Of those teams, only Churchill and Blair won their first round matchups in the state playoff. Churchill had an upset victory over No. 2-seed Richard Montgomery — it also defeated the Rockets 3-2 in the final game of the regular season. Blair, however, arguably had the bigger upset, which came over No. 1-seed Dulaney, 3-1.
