BOYS LACROSSE 🥍
After fighting off an upset bid from eight-seeded Dulaney, Sherwood’s advancement to the 3A semifinals earned them the title of the deepest playoff run by a MCPS team this spring. Besides the Warriors, two other teams advanced into the state bracket, and even more came just short of hoisting a regional championship trophy. BASEBALL ⚾
In case you missed it from last week, Montgomery County has a baseball state champion for the fifth time in six years! Sherwood took home the 3A state title once again after beating Stephen Decatur 2-1. The Warriors were not the only Montgomery County team to advance into the state bracket, and there are certainly other strong seasons worth looking into. SOFTBALL 🥎
While Richard Montgomery got shutout in the state semifinals, they do earn the crown for the deepest softball playoff run from an MCPS team. GIRLS LACROSSE 🥍
Montgomery County will have to wait another year for a team to take home the county’s first ever state girls lacrosse championship. Walter Johnson reaching the semifinals was the closest any team came, but there were several others who got a spot in the state bracket who also could not make it to the big game.
